Post XXX-MAS

Had such a charming christmas! Santa brought me everything on my list and more.  And had a blast and lots of hilarious laughs with my "kooky" family.  Plus the ham came out splendid, and I must confess I do love me some ham, ;)  All and all I can't truly convey just how fortunate and blessed I feel.  I am one grateful big mouthed snot box.

I send out heaping helpings of Holiday Happiness to all of you party people and I hope this world and this time of year is treating you well!

Bette Davis Survey

Recently I was asked if I was interested in participating in a survey about the film legend, Bette Davis. Naturally I jumped at the chance, and here are the results.

  • Hey Jaysin, Here's the questions here, that will appear on the blog. All you have to do is answer them.
1: You have been a Bette fan for quite sometime. When did you first discover Bette? & what made you become a Bette fan?
2: What inspires you most about Bette?
3: Bette is largely popular among young audiences of today. So many young people are discovering Bette & admiring her. What do you think attracts the young audiences to Bette?
4: What is your favorite Bette movie?

5: What is your favorite Bette moment? It can be from a movie, an interview etc?
6: Bette passed away in 1989. What was your reaction upon hearing about her death. How did it affect you?
7: Bette has a huge impact on a lot of people. What impact does Bette have on you?
    8: What is your favorite Bette period. 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's?
9: What is your favorite Bette possession?
10: Have you ever had any dealings with Bette. Have you ever sent her a fan letter & she replied, or have you been lucky enough to meet her?

13: Bette is known for playing a lot of unsympathetic characters. Which character that Bette has ever portrayed do you think is the most unsympathetic. The meantest?
14: How would you best describe Bette Davis?

  • 1. I was introduced to Bette from my momma, who introduced me to many classic film stars and musical icons of the ages. My momma always loved 'Now, Voyager' and 'Dark Victory' and wouldn't you know it, now they are two of my very favorites too.
    2. I'm inspired most by Bette's tenacity, passion, and consistent forthright honesty.
    3. I think younger people are attracted to Bette because of her larger than live persona, but they stay for her heart felt film performances.

    4. I think of the films I've viewed it would have to be 'All about Eve' because even after all times I've watched it I still take joy in finding new subtle nuances in her performance.
    5. I think my favorite scene would have to be in 'All about Eve', i'll call it the fire and music theatre scene with Gary Merril.
    6. I was only 9 when she passed away and would not come to appreciate her, until some years later.
    7. Bette's impact on me would be to remember her strength and courage and try and implement these character traits into my own life.

    8. I believe 30's and 40's era Bette are my favorite.
    9. My favorite Bette possession would probably be my Bette Davis box dvd set containing Dark Victory and Now Voyager.
  • 10. No personal interaction with Ms. Davis unfortunetly.
    11. I would love to recommend Bette and her films to younger people, I would probably start with 'Now, Voyager' and 'Dark Victory' just the way I was introduced to her.
    12. I think Bette is epitome of glamour in 'All about Eve'.
    13. I think Bette's most unpleasant characterization would have to be in, 'Of Human Bondage' raw and vile yet still somewhat sympathetic.

    14. I would best describe Bette as Indomitable both on screen and in life.
